I love Lentils. I think they are delicious. I generally make Lentil Soup with Kielbasa. I mentioned on Twitter a few days ago that I had made that soup and a twitter friend of mine sent me a recipe that she uses to make lentils. It was totally different than anything I’d ever made. I even had my mom come over to give it a taste!
Savory Lentil Bake
Ingredients:
1 C. Lentils
2 C water
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp ginger
1 small onion chopped
1 spoonful chopped garlic (or 1 clove)
Steps:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Combine all the ingredients in a square baking dish
Cover and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
YUM. Super simple and super delicious! There is no liquid in this dish ~ so don’t be surprised. It’s not soup.
In case you’re wondering here’s my lentil soup recipe as well.
Lentil Soup Recipe
1 lb polska kielbasa (sliced and quartered)
1 large potato (diced into small pieces)
1 medium onion (diced into small pieces)
1 spoonful diced garlic (or 1 or 2 cloves)
8 oz lentils
2 tsp salt
1 tsp Marjoram
large can of diced tomato
Swiss cheese slices
Steps:
Brown your sausage in a little oil (the browner the better don’t skimp on this step)
Add potato, onion, garlic and cook 5 minutes
Stir in salt and marjoram, cook 5 minutes
Add lentils and 8 cups of water.
Stir and bring to a boil.
Once boiling lower heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
At 30 minutes add tomatoes and cook until lentils are to your liking.
Serve topped with a slice of Swiss Cheese YUM!!

I love lentils!! I also make a lentil sausage soup. Another great recipe I got was from the original Hillbilly Housewife website. It was a brown rice/lentil combo to use in tacos and such. Very tasty!
Meant to say…I’m bookmarking this one to try. It sounds yummy!!
