I don’t know about you, but I have this thing where I continually go outside of myself for answers ~ whether it be in books, or magazines or friends, or relatives and sometimes the husband. It’s so easy to believe they have the answers, and someone else can tell me what I should/need/oughta do.
The funny thing about this is I read all the books, I get jazzed about what they say, and then I promptly forget all about it and move on in my struggle. The things I learned in the book or from the conversation may help the issue subside for a bit, but then sometime later it comes back and I’m on my quest to extinguish this “problem” again. Hunting outside myself for an answer.
I can get so wound up. I have this little bug in my head that makes me think everything has to be perfect. I have to be perfect. The perfect person, the perfect wife, and especially the perfect mom. You do NOT even want to know what my version of perfect entails, but let me just tell you it is completely unattainable and could keep me running in circles for the rest of my life I’m sure.
And then one day, something shows up. A little gift from the Universe. A little reminder that there is something greater within you than there ever could be from outside of you, and you have all the power to live effortlessly if you’d just stop trying so damn hard to DO it.
This happened to me recently. It started with a reminder from a friend, and I think once I opened that gate it allowed quite a few things to come tumbling in. So I thought I would share them with you. Because let me tell you, every time I remember there is an easier way life gets so much better. (Now if I could just stop forgetting I’d be rocking!!!)
A while back I was feeling stressed out and overwhelmed. I have always wanted to be one of those calm, serene people who just seems to float through life unaffected by all the crazy of everyday life. (I’m not really sure those people actually exist but I feel like I’ve met a few ~ and that’s probably totally my OWN perception) Anyway, I just wanted a little more calm in my life. I found this book on Amazon and the word Bliss drew me to it. That’s exactly what I wanted, some BLISS baby!!
I read it, loved it, thought it was fantastic and promptly got busy with life and completely forgot about it. Apparently all my raving about the book and how awesome it was enticed a friend of mine to buy it and she’s actually USING IT!! She happened to mention to me the other day while we were talking about being stressed, that she was using the techniques in that book and they were working really well.
I dug it out and for the last week I’ve been working with the techniques and I can’t even tell you how much better it is to USE the book, than to just read it! There are tons and tons of simple energy techniques you can use to help manage your energy, your emotions, and your life. It’s made a huge difference in only a week or so… but you have to use it. It doesn’t do much of anything sitting on your bookshelf.
After I picked up Everyday Bliss and had been using it for a couple days another friend of mine asked if I’d heard of this other book. It happens to be a free ebook on parenting using the law of attraction. I had not heard of it so I went to take a look.
Zero Worry Parenting ~ well that’s something I could get behind. It’s a 54 page free ebook all about how to USE law of attraction in your parenting to create a worry free environment in your family and your parenting.
We were headed out to Tulsa last weekend so I printed it out and took it along. It was an easy read. They explain law of attraction very simply, and very clearly. They also provide some easy to understand information about applying the law of attraction in everyday life. This is missing in a lot of LOA literature in my opinion, so it was nice to see some examples of how it works in “real life” situations.
An excellent book and I highly recommend it. They will be offering classes soon so if you like what they talk about in the book, and think you could use some more one on one type help the classes might be just the right thing for you. I myself and thinking about joining the first class.
The same people who wrote the zero worry parenting book sent me another very cool pdf yesterday. It’s called parenting quickies. There’s 40 quick parenting tips. I love the way they introduce this book. Unlike many books where you are expected to follow the RULES and do exactly as they say, this book says to read through them all, then focus on one or two that really resonate with you. Don’t do anything. When the time comes where you can use the quickies it will be there at your disposal. I like that.
Here’s my favorite:
38.Try to imagine how you would feel if you were your child. Put yourself on the level of the child – what they want and need. It?s quite revealing, and may change how you relate to them.
When I did that it opened up a whole new perspective and I could hear my tone of voice, how I spoke to her, how I listened to her, how I interacted with her. Unfortunately some of it was NOT what I really wanted to be doing. It did make it easier to see though, and that makes it easier to choose something different.
It really can be pretty simple.
I have this tendency to make everything really complicated and really difficult. I love it when something hits me and helps me realize life can be really easy ~ it’s ME making it hard. Here’s part of an email I received recently from the zero worry parenting folks ~ can you tell they’ve really got my attention these days?
You know what the formula is for activating
the Law of Attraction in family life?
Or in anything, for that matter!
We’ve found it takes three steps:
1. LET IT BE
2. ACT DIFFERENTLY
3. LET THE LAW OF ATTRACTION TAKE OVER
Simple, huh? Almost too simple?
I thought so too, here’s what it means.
STEP ONE is stop doing what you’re doing,
if it isn’t going your way.
Makes sense? Not working => just let it be.
STEP TWO is about taking some
specific action to turn things around.
STEP THREE is the easiest,: you simply hand
the matter over to the Law of Attraction.
No more heavy lifting at that point!
But to get there, you need to know what those
turnaround actions in the middle are, right?
This is where the 40 parenting quickies come in. These are the turnarounds you can use instead of the things that aren’t working now. I can tell you even in the last day or two they have been working for me. I just have to keep it up and not let it fall by the wayside as I have so many other things.
I wish I could adequately express the changes that have gone on in myself and my parenting over the last week. It’s been quite remarkable and a testament to the fact it doesn’t have to take a million years, but can happen in an instant if you allow it.
